Dr Iain Doherty is the Director of the Learning Technology Unit in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, at the University of Auckland. His background is in tertiary education and multimedia development. He and his staff develop e-learning solutions driven by educational aims.

His interest in portfolios is to provide a space for lecturers to maintain a teaching record. In his presentation at the PD day he shares an alternative use for a portfolio space, 'Teaching e-Portfolios for Professional Development'.
